SONAR Premium Day 4

So we went back to Japan and this time it was to demo to over 870 people! It was a fantastic day in the heart of Akihabara. Roland Japan did a great job in putting the event on.The event kicked with a video from Alex discussing the new features of SONAR 8.5. Greg then gave a great speech on new technologies like Windows7 and of course SONAR. Then it was on to our demo. Brandon ran an i7 machine running Windows 7 (64-bit) and a VS-700 and I was running a quadcore vista (32-bit) with a VS-100. The demos went off without a hitch. The final part of our demo was a performance with Brandon playing leads with Rapture on his rig while I triggered the Matrix on mine.

The entrance to the show

Following our demo various Roland Japan  staff and guest demonstrators gave demos covering various parts of SONAR and the V-Studio 700 and 100. They did an excellent job and both Brandon and I learned some demo tips and tricks.

This is the view from the stage. (shaky pic sorry)

There were three demo areas, the street entrance running VS-100 and SONAR VS, a mid hall stage for VS-700 and the main stage at the end of the hall.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success. Below are three videos that show the demo Brandon and I gave. Hope you enjoy!

Music Master Japan releases video on 8.5

In this video brandon and I take you through some of the new features of SONAR 8.5.

Do you want to learn more about our little trip to Japan?

Here’s a video I put together that has some info for you. It’s amazing what 2 laptops, jet lag, coffee and a few hours can do. :-)

I know I am a bit jet lagged when i can’t spell X-ray. I just do not have the energy to fix it, sorry.

Matrix View

Brandon was able to get a few seconds of my matrix perfromace onto cell phone video.

What’s for dinner?

The dinner menu

No seriously, what is on the menu? :-)

It turned out to be an awesome dinner that even had fried chicken!

Filming in Japan – pt 2

We went down down down...

We went down down down...

On the first day the focus was showing the new features in SONAR. I was able to finish my parts and today Brandon gets to be in the spotlight with the VS-700 and the new SONAR features.

The door to the film studio

The door to the film studio

Our friends at Roland Japan have renamed the studio we film in to the V-Studio.

I have to say I am addicted to the Matrix view. I have been using it as a scratch pad to arrange backing tracks before recording lead instruments like guitar. What I really love is  “performing” my songs and playing them like an instrument, you can put new life into existing songs so easily. After filming the camera crew ran up to the keyboard to play with triggering the matrix. It was great to see this kind of response!

The Cakewalk Twitter Feed as RSS

Twitter – A useful tool for short descriptive messages or the sign of the apocalypse?

As an example I added the Cakewalk Twitter feed to my blog. By selecting the RSS feed (icon) on the Twitter page I can then subscribe to the feed and get all the updates without ever going to Twitter again. You can see this in the right side of this blog.

You can also take that RSS subscription and add it to pages like igoogle and other sites that read RSS or even most mail programs.

Of course you can just go to the forums and wait 30sec after the Twitter post hits and get your updates there.

In Japan filming videos

Well Brandon and I are in Japan to film some videos for the upcoming release. We will be focusing on the new features and also showing the VS-700 taking advantage of the new features.

7am Logan airport

7am Logan airport

We got in last night. For those of you who don’t know it’s about a 16 hour journey to get from the US East coast to Tokyo so we are a little shredded. Once we got to Narita airport we only have a 90 minute bus ride to the hotel.

More updates later.

NAB Show

Heading off to the NAB show today. Hope to see some of you there. Cakewalk will be in two places at the show, the Roland Systems Group booth and also the B&H booth. Both locations will be showing the VS-700.
